German Doner Kebab (GDK), one of the UK’s fastest-growing QSR brands, is strengthening its product portfolio with the launch of Inferno OG, a premium spicy variant of its signature OG Kebab, featuring an exclusive Inferno Sauce made from ghost chilli peppers. The launch responds to rising consumer demand for heat-forward flavours as 53% of Brits say they prefer spicy food – a jump from 42% three years prior.
The Inferno OG retains GDK’s established offering of premium doner meats and fresh salad, now complemented by a next-level heat profile. Developed exclusively for GDK, the Inferno Sauce uses ghost chilli peppers – which rank near the top of the Scoville scale and are over 400 times hotter than jalapeños – delivering a balanced, hot flavour that complements the brand’s existing recipes.
Chris Waters, GDK’s CMO says: “The Inferno OG highlights GDK’s ability to capture the growing segment of consumers seeking spicier, more adventurous flavours. It is designed to meet market demand, drive refreshed footfall and strengthen our leadership in the premium kebabs sector across the UK.”
GDK has a strong track record of innovation and consistently responding to evolving customer preferences, having recently launched its Fiver Menu to combine quality and value, preceded by a pioneering plant-based doner, a trial of the UK’s first breakfast doner menu and a launch of its own delivery app.
Having launched its first UK site over a decade ago in 2015, GDK has expanded at a remarkable pace by way of franchise model into major city centre high streets, travel hubs and shopping centres up and down the country.
Following the recent announcement of its milestone 150th UK restaurant, the launch of the Inferno OG reinforces GDK’s ongoing commitment to expanding its innovative dining experiences across the nation.
