Asda has today announced the appointment of Gavin Chappell as vice president of food and GM supply.
The appointment marks a return to Asda for Chappell, as he previously spent six years with the business across numerous roles including vice president – e-commerce and supply chain.
Chappell rejoins in April. He was previously the chief operations officer at Bensons For Beds.
In his new role, Chappell will be responsible for Asda’s food & general merchandising supply teams and will look to apply his experience in operations and supply chain roles. Chappell will report directly into David Lepley, who similarly recently returned to the Asda business to take up the newly created chief supply chain officer.
Chappell ’s appointment comes as Asda continues its mission to restore its DNA through unbeatable value and legendary customer service, having recently launched Rollback to offer even greater value.
Lepley, chief supply chain officer at Asda, said: “We know that the key to delivering legendary service and great value is ensuring customers can get the products they want each and every time they shop at Asda. Gavin’s knowledge of the business and considerable experience in logistics and supply chain functions will ensure we can continue meeting the needs of hardworking families.”
