CleanCo announces global retail expansion with Asda and Walmart listings

CleanCo, the leading independent non-alcoholic spirit brand in the UK, is pleased to announce the next step of their continued global retail expansion with their newest UK listing in Asda. Launching into store on 16th May, various CleanCo SKUs will be carried across 314 of their UK stores. Alongside this, the brand continues its US expansion with the launch of CleanCo into 392 Walmart stores in the USA from June 2023.

Founded in 2019 by entrepreneur and creator Spencer Matthews, the brand fast became the leading independent non-alcoholic spirit brand in the UK. Last year the brand saw retail sales grow by 86%, whilst so far this year CleanCo’s has been the #1 driver of category growth. The newest launch in ASDA continues to bolster the brand’s retail footprint and increase the brand’s UK distribution to over 2,500 outlets which includes the other major supermarket chains Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Morrisons and Ocado.

CleanCo’s Clean G gin alternative will be stocked across 184 stores. Clean R, the rum alternative will be stocked in 186 stores, with Clean G Rhubarb being stocked across 314 stores nationwide.

Coinciding with this is CleanCo’s US listing in Walmart, which will see product listed within 392 stores nationwide from June 2023. Select stores will carry Clean T, an oaky agave spirt, Clean G, Clean R and CleanCo’s renowned Clean V vodka alternative.

Despite launching in 2021 in the US, CleanCo has established itself as the fastest growing brand in the category, with sales up over 1000% in the latest 52 weeks, and is now the 4th largest brand overall. The newest listing within Walmart will help CleanCo become forefront of changing consumer tastes and attitudes to the no/low sector.

“When we launched in 2019 we set our sights on becoming the category leader in the must-win markets of the UK and US. Asda completes our distribution across the major grocers in the UK, cements our position as the independent category leader, and allows us to make non-alcoholic spirits accessible to the widest possible audience. In the US, the non-alc spirits category is up 77% whilst CleanCo is up a whopping 356% (Nielsen L13W to w.e. 22nd Apr). We’re delighted to be partnering with Walmart to drive the category even faster and can’t wait to build our Brand State-side,” said James Shillcock, general manager CleanCo.

CleanCo is an independent category leader having grown 30 times faster than the non-alcoholic category in 2022 and becoming the second fastest-growing brand overall in this space last year. During the final festive selling period of 2022, CleanCo sold one bottle every 52 seconds and on average every 12 seconds someone is enjoying a Clean Cocktail.
