Co-op grows its brand new ‘on the go’ micro store format with the launch of a new store in the Stamford Quarter, Altrincham .

Located in George Street in the Stamford Quarter – a thriving neighbourhood and destination for shopping, eating and socialising –  Co-op’s ‘on the go’ concept focusses on a range dedicated to serving the growing ‘food-on-the-go’ consumer culture, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner in exciting new formats, from traditional meal deals to the inclusion of a hot food serve-over counter and deli-inspired selections.

The new ‘micro’ store evolves Co-op’s convenience expertise, taking cues from around the world to meet consumer demand for fast, high quality food-for-now, catering to meals on-the-go throughout the day.

Between 7am-7pm the doors are open to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in exciting new formats, with the quick and convenient online home delivery also available. After 7pm the store makes the move to online trading only, which includes Co-op’s Irresistible Pizzas cooked and delivered in the community in minutes via Co-op’s quick commerce partners Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Co-op’s first ‘on-the-go’ store launched in Solihull in July, a UK first for a national grocer. Co-op is focused on scaling the roll-out of its new format store, which will be situated in high foot-traffic locations and are designed to champion the convenience retailer’s ‘on-the-go’ expertise through the unique and innovative format.

Gary Williams, Co-op director of store optimisation, said: “The whole team is excited to launch our new concept store in the Stamford Quarter. We continually look for new ways to get closer to our customers and deliver added convenience. Our new concept brings together an innovative blend of food-to-go propositions, with freshly prepared products designed to stand out in this vibrant and thriving community. Whether in store or online, we cater to ‘on-the-go’ meals throughout the day, at breakfast, lunch and dinner you will find delicious products, quick service, quality and value, and all in a great convenient location.”

Chris Houghton, Retail & Leisure Manager at Bruntwood, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Co-op’s brand-new store format to the Stamford Quarter. This opening marks an exciting step for the regeneration of the neighbourhood into a thriving, modern and sustainable area. Co-op’s reputation for convenience, quality, and supporting local communities makes it a perfect fit for the Stamford Quarter, and we’re confident it will be a fantastic addition for our visitors and the wider Altrincham community.”

A spokesperson for Trafford Council, said: “This new Co-op store will be a great addition to the Stamford Quarter and will benefit both local residents and visitors to the town.”

Shoppers can simply pop in for a Costa Coffee, hot baguette, buttermilk chicken tenders or wholesome protein pots for a quick hot lunch on the go. Extensive new product development exclusive to the format includes all day breakfast meal pots, berry burst bircher and, apple and cinnamon overnight oats. For lunch, a new deli-selection will serve offerings such as smoked salmon, egg and spinach pots; sweet potato bhaji wrap; falafel and houmous salad bowls; chicken, bacon and avocado caesar wrap and, tomato, mozzarella & pesto focaccia bagels.

The new store format joins Co-op’s traditional convenience stores across the UK, and supports Co-op’s growth ambitions.

Co-op members can also save more, including member price savings on Co-op’s meal deal. Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives, with its history dating back more than 180 years. Co-op exists to create value for its membership and communities – including personalised offers, deals, promotions and, member price savings. Co-op’s 6.5m members own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation.
