Hair loss remedies, collagen, and skin-firming products are surging in popularity with demand across all three categories soaring since 2023, according to new research from LOOKFANTASTIC, the UK’s leading online beauty retailer.
The rise of these categories comes amid a rapid acceleration in GLP-1 weight loss medication use across the UK. According to research from the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD), uptake of GLP-1 medications has almost doubled in nine months, rising from 3.1% of UK adults in June 2025 to 6% by March 2026.
Search data from LOOKFANTASTIC’s website showed collagen searches rocketed from 1,174 in 2024 to 10,129 in 2025 – nearly a ninefold surge in a single year.
Demand for firming products tells a similar story, with searches more than doubling to 3,996 in 2025, up from 1,884 in 2024.
Hair loss products have also risen strongly in the past two years. After a 4.8% decline in 2023, unit sales rebounded 18.2% in 2024, then accelerated to 27% growth in 2025.
The timing is notable: this shift in spending is being borne out by a fast-growing body of clinical research. While not confirmed as a direct side effect of taking GL-P1s, some users have reported hair loss symptoms, and loose skin is a common result of rapid or excessive weight loss, according to studies. Research has also found that 76% of GLP-1 users surveyed reported current hair loss, with more than half noticing it within the first three months of starting injections.
Most recently, a study published in the British Medical Journal, which analysed data from 50,000 adults with type 2 diabetes, found GLP-1 users had a 68% higher risk of hair loss than those on DPP-4 inhibitors, with researchers pointing to possible micronutrient deficiencies and reduced caloric intake as likely contributing factors. The growing volume of research on this side effect suggests LOOKFANTASTIC’s sales data may be an early commercial signal of a broader, increasingly well-documented trend.
LOOKFANTASTIC currently lists 205 collagen products across topical serums, creams, and ingestible supplements, and currently stocks 106 hair loss products, encompassing scalp treatments, strengthening shampoos, and supplements.
Fran Elliott, CEO of THG Beauty Retail, said: “With the use of GLP-1s on the rise, many of our customers are increasingly proactive about addressing the physical changes that can come with rapid weight loss using GLP-1s, and our data reflects that trend.
“Rising demand for collagen, skin firming, and hair loss products tells us that people are looking for accessible, effective solutions, and we are committed to offering the broadest possible range to meet that need.”
