Iceland slashes the price of 1,000 ‘weekly shop’ items – more than any other UK supermarket

A leading competitor in the ‘supermarket price cutting war’, Iceland Foods today announces it has doubled its volume of price-slashed ‘weekly shop’ items to over 1,000 products. This marks the highest number of price cut grocery and household items by any UK supermarket this year.

In July, the value supermarket announced a weekly half million-pound investment in keeping prices low for customers. This includes its Mix & Match range – offering unbeatable value across multibuys – and its range of £1 frozen easy tea solutions that have doubled.

The price cuts are on products families need including a significant range of freezer fillers and household staples that customers buy week in, week out.

Richard Walker, executive chairman of Iceland Foods, said: “Although inflation rates are falling, the cost-of-living crisis still very much has families in its grip. That’s why we’re committed to keeping prices low across items that our customers actually need. In just two months, we’ve doubled the number of price-slashed products and greatly expanded our range of £1 items. It’s our priority to support our customers in any way we can and offer great value when they need it most.”

Providing unbeatable prices for consumers, prices have been cut on over 1,000 ‘weekly shop’ products including:

  • Birdseye Potato Waffles (10pack) – was £2.50, now £2.25
  • Iceland Chicken Thigh Fillets (1kg) – was £6.50, now £6
  • Lurpak Lighter Spreadable Butter (400g) – was £4, now £2.75
  • Aunt Bessie’s Roasties (600g) was £2, now £1.50
  • McCain Hash Browns (625g) was £3.20, now £2
  • Pepsi Max 1.25ml bottle – was £1.25, now £1
  • Mr Kipling Bakewell Slices 6 Pack – was £2.25, now £1.50
  • Mr Kipling Angel Slices – 6 pack – was £2.25, now £1.50
  • Dairylea Jumbo Cheese Dunkers 4 Pack – was £2.40, now £1.75
  • Munch Bunch Strawberry & Vanilla Double up 4 pack – was £2 now £1.25
  • Iceland Battered Cod Fillets 4pk – was £4.50, now £3.50
  • Tetley Plus 50% Free 160 pk Tea Bags – was £5.50, now £4

Iceland has doubled its £1 frozen easy tea solutions, making it easier for busy mums feeding their families. This includes – £1 Value Frozen

  • Iceland 12 Chicken Nuggets  – £1.00
  • Iceland 10 Breaded Fillet Fish Fingers – £1.00
  • Iceland Chicken and Rice Chinese – £1.00
  • Iceland Fish Pie 300g – £1.00
  • Iceland Savoury Golden Rice & Chicken 350g – £1.00
  • Iceland Penne Carbonara 350g – £1.00
  • Iceland Chicken Curry & Rice 400g – £1.00

Iceland’s hugely popular Mix & Match range lets customers buy multiple, essential weekly shop items at incredible prices across a number of food categories. Recently Iceland launched over 500 new big brand and own-label products, of which over 70% was added to its multibuy Mix & Match range, offering even more value for money to customers on its latest innovative food.

  • 3 for £3 – focussed on morning goods and bread + selected grocery 3 for £3 Mix & Match | Iceland Foods. For example:
  • Warburtons Toastie Soft Thick White 800g – £1.00 in 3 for £3 (Or £1.40)
  • Warburtons 6 White Rolls – £1.00 in 3 for £3 (Or £1.40)
