Matalan is having a major fashion moment – here’s what to expect from its new era

Matalan, one of the UK’s most recognisable British fashion and homeware retailers, is stepping into an exciting new era, revealing a major new chapter for the high-street favourite this Autumn.

Launching on 12 September 2026, the Autumn/Winter collection marks a significant shift in Matalan’s fashion direction, putting design, quality and elevated everyday style firmly at the forefront. The result? A more considered, fashion-forward take on wardrobe classics still at a value customers can feel good about.

Think sharper silhouettes, elevated fabrics and plenty of fashion-editor approved details: structured tailoring, butter-soft leather jackets, delicate lace, heritage-inspired checks and plaids, oversized cosy knitwear and the return of the must-have loafer. These are pieces designed to slot effortlessly into your existing wardrobe.

Hero pieces including the Grey Pinstripe Suit, featuring pleat-detail trousers and an oversized fit for an effortlessly cool take on office dressing. Style with court heels for a polished finish or a slimline trainer for a more relaxed feel. If you’re looking to refresh your Autumn/Winter shirt collection, the Check Tie-Neck Blouse, available in Khaki and Burgundy, is an easy day-to-night staple, taking you seamlessly from the office to dinner.

The Barn Jackets, available in a classic denim wash and brown suedette, offer a fresh take on the quintessential Autumn jacket, with a cinched waist adding a more defined, tailored silhouette.

For an easy transition into the new season, the Check Button Jacket with Scarf Detailing brings a directional twist to Autumn layering. Pair with Barrel Leg Jeans and Peg-Heel Suede Boots for an effortless off-duty look.

Sarah Welsh, chief product, brand and commercial officer says: “This season is about changing the perception of what Matalan can be. We’ve taken a much more directional approach to design, playing with stronger silhouettes, richer textures and the trends we know our customers are excited about, while keeping everything wearable and effortless. The result is a Matalan that feels fresh and contemporary, but still delivers the quality and value our customers know us for.

But the change goes well beyond the clothes – we’re investing in our stores, visual merchandising and digital experience too, so that the whole Matalan experience feels as fresh, considered and fashion-forward as the collection itself.”
