Mindful Chef, the UK’s highest-rated, B Corp-certified recipe box, is delighted to announce the launch of its services in Northern Ireland, in the business’s first geographical expansion since its inception in 2015. The launch will allow Mindful Chef to expand its healthy eating ethos and sustainable business practices, delivering its unique and innovative proposition to new, like-minded customers, and following a £2.8 million+ increase in YOY sales in the UK.

Giles Humphries, co-founder of Mindful Chef, comments: “We’re thrilled to be launching in Northern Ireland, which marks our next exciting chapter. Our mission of ‘making healthy eating easy’ hasn’t swayed since day one. Since then we’ve seen consumers’ motivations around health have gotten even stronger, with it now being the number one reason people sign up to Mindful Chef, increasing by 55% YOY. That combined with strong sales growth this year makes it the perfect time to bring our unique proposition to the Irish market.”

Mindful Chef will serve Northern Ireland from 10th June, delivering to customers every Wednesday.

Founded in 2015 by three British school friends from Devon: Giles Humphries, Myles Hopper and Rob Grieg-Gran, the brand’s mission has always been to make healthy eating easy, accessible and sustainable, with 94% of customers in the UK saying Mindful Chef has made healthy eating easier for them. Mindful Chef offers its customers 40 fresh and healthy recipes a week to choose from, designed by an in-house team of chefs. To date, Mindful Chef has delivered over 30 million meals to more than 400,000 customers across the UK and is excited to continue, offering its unique proposition to those in Northern Ireland.

Since launch, health and sustainability has been at the heart of Mindful Chef’s business practices, with an overarching goal to become a regenerative brand; going beyond sustainability and supporting an entire ecosystem of change. Mindful Chef demonstrates how businesses can effectively balance the triple bottom line effectively via a model built on zero food waste and a commitment to using business as a force for good. Most recently (6th May 2024), Mindful Chef was recognised for its excellence in Sustainable Development with a King’s Award for Enterprise, the most prestigious business award in the UK.

To date, Mindful Chef’s business and sustainability growth journey has seen the following milestones:

  • Mindful Chef became the first recipe box company to certify as a B Corp in 2018. Re-certifying in 2022, the brand increased their score by 33%, which put them in the top 3% of food B Corps globally

  • Mindful Chef has donated over 19 million hot school meals to children living in poverty in Malawi (who have no other safety net) via its partnership with the charity One Feeds Two

  • Over 80% of the packaging Mindful Chef used last year could be recycled from the curbside

  • Over 100,000 litres of rubbish collected at the annual Mindful Chef Big Clean Up event

  • Over 71 tonnes of food has been donated to The Felix project (that’s 170k meals!)

  • 1.4 million low-carbon meals delivered in the last year (that’s equal to saving the same amount of CO2 as 1,500 flights from London to New York)

  • Mindful Chef has reduced its carbon intensity by 15% since 2020

  • Launched a new veggie range for meat-free dinners alongside its vegan range which was the first to launch in the UK

  • Mindful Chef was honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise, the most prestigious business award in the UK
