Online healthy food retailer MuscleFood.com has agreed a sponsorship deal with Surfing England for the next three years.
The deal means the brand will become a key sponsor of the UK Adaptive Team and they were the headline sponsor for the 2023 MuscleFood English Para Surfing Open.
Surfing England is the national governing body for surfing in the UK and is run by surfers who are working with surf schools, clubs and coaches across the country.
They represent the whole surfing family including bodysurfing, bodyboarding, shortboard, longboard, SUP surf and adaptive / para surfing.
Now the retailer is backing the body and helping fund an underfunded sporting organisation to reach more than a million surfers across the country.
MuscleFood CEO Nick Preston said: “At MuscleFood we’re all about feeding people well and encouraging them to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
“Grassroots sport is essential in encouraging the younger generation, and those of us who are a little older, to get involved in sport.
“The problem is they’re severely underfunded. Many talented teams and individuals don’t get the funding they need or deserve and are often left to raise the money themselves.”
Preston continued: “That’s where we want to step in and help and that first step is in backing the talented surfers and the next generation at Surfing England.
“We can’t help everyone, but we will be revealing our plans to support as many underfunded teams as we can through our platforms in the coming months.
“We want to reach all those grassroots organisations who need backing, adaptive sports, underfunded women’s teams and youth sports.
“This is really important to us – in the absence of anyone else making a difference, we want to start backing these sporting organisations. Hopefully it will encourage others to follow and make sport more inclusive and available to everyone.
“We will support as many individuals and teams as possible, raising the profile of all these talented people and giving them the chance to shine on the biggest stage, enjoy life and be the best versions of themselves.”
