Old Golden Hen, the 4.1% golden ale, is launching its 500ml cans this autumn following a refresh of the brand last year.
Part of the Greene King and Old Speckled Hen portfolio, Old Golden Hen launched a new look and feel of its branding last April to tap into current drinker’s preferences and the growing trend in golden ale. Bottles of Old Golden Hen took to the shelves in line with the refresh, however the brewer has decided to launch the beer in can format for this autumn.
Through its research, Greene King has found a growth in can format for tradition golden ale that is outperforming both total beer and total ale can format, proving a demand for it amongst the audience for the style of beer.
Kirsten Alexander, brand manager for Old Golden Hen, said: “We continue to monitor our drinkers’ preference and trends and after we refreshed the branding for Old Golden Hen to align with these factors, we also researched into the formats that drinkers were eager to purchase. We can see that there is evident desire for golden ales in can format and we’re excited to see these start hitting the shelves for Old Golden Hen over the next month.”
The 4x500ml can pack of Old Golden Hen will launch in Sainsbury’s in October
