Tesco is keeping down the cost of staying safe in the sun by continuing to cover the VAT on all of its sun care range.
The supermarket has also reformulated its own brand Soleil range for an invisible finish on all skin tones in their ongoing commitment to improve the nation’s experience with sun care. The new formulas blend in rather than leaving a white residue, while still providing broad spectrum 5 – star UVA and UVB protection.
An initial 13 products are being launched this year, with the whole of Tesco’s reformulated Soleil range launching by 2025.
Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the UK, yet up to 90 per cent of cases can be prevented by adopting simple sun protection measures.
Research by Tesco reveals that over half (57 per cent) of UK adults said they think sun protection is expensive, with 29 per cent of those surveyed stating that they would wear sun protection daily if it was more affordable. It is estimated 19m UK adults don’t wear sun protection even when it’s sunny.
Head of Health Campaigns at Tesco, Oonagh Turnbull, said:“At Tesco, we believe sun protection is essential, and know that the cost of using it can add up. With the current squeeze on household budgets, money may be tighter than ever for many families.
“We believe that the safety of the nation’s skin should not be treated as a luxury and that everyone should feel comfortable wearing our products. That’s why we’re covering the VAT and have reformulated the range to give an invisible finish on all skin tones.”
