The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest fragrance retailer, has launched its biggest perfume bottle recycling service to date as part of its focus on sustainability and on-going commitment to combat unnecessary perfume bottle wastage.
Having pioneered the first of its kind perfume bottle recycling and reuse initiative in 2018, The Perfume Shop are increasing the brand’s largest roll out to date in 2023 whereby we will see the new and improved recycling units placed across all of its 211 nationwide stores. As Perfume is categorised into the cosmetics products category, often consumers can be confused on how to dispose of their glass bottles correctly. The Perfume Shop has taken away this confusion of how to recycle your perfume bottle safely. With their recycling partners at hand, they will dispose of your bottle in the most environmentally friendly way possible by ensuring that no residual amounts of the scent they once held make their way into the environment vs. if left in landfills. Furthermore, for every bottle recycled, The Perfume Shop will make a donation to the Eden Reforestation Projects to plant a tree and support their ongoing mission to make the planet a greener, more environmentally friendly place to live.
Customers can simply drop into any of The Perfume Shop stores nationwide to recycle their empty fragrance bottles in the newly installed recycling units and receive the discount to purchase any fragrance of their choice. The Perfume Shop’s scheme entitles customers to an even greater discount than previously offered at 10% with a new 15% discount off same-day purchases.
Further to the excellent work The Perfume Shop is achieving to combat perfume bottle wastage, they will be planting a tree for every bottle sold both online and in-store on Saturday 25th March 2023.
Since beginning the partnership with the Eden Reforestation Projects in April 2021, The Perfume Shop has recycled over 7,282 empty perfume bottles, with over 399,926 trees planted. Further to this partnership, this has also offered over 3000 days of work provided for the communities.
Gill Smith, managing director from The Perfume Shop, said: “When we launched the bottle recycling initiative it was the first of its kind for perfume bottles which we hadn’t seen before. We knew we wanted our loyal customers to both smell good but also feel good when they were aware what they could do with their empty fragrance bottles. At The Perfume Shop, we’re proud of the excellent work we’ve already achieved as a business with our partnerships and how we can look to combat wastage as much as we can and that’s why we’re continuing to build upon this year on year to make our cause even greater than before.”
