Tom Kerridge, Curtis Pritchard, Mr Motivator (real name Derrick Errol Evans) and Tatyana Heard unveil Trainline’s pop-up experience, The Way to Train Station, taking place on Quitter’s Day this Friday at London’s King’s Cross Station. Issue date: Monday January 5, 2026. PA Photo. The pop-up is designed to inspire people to stick with their 2026 New Year’s resolutions, following new research revealing that over half of people in the UK say people give up on new hobbies too quickly. Brits may start the New Year full of good intentions, but many don’t last the month. New research reveals that while almost one in three people (30%) pledge to learn a new skill in January, nearly a third (29%) will give it up before the month is out.

Gen Z are the quickest to quit, with more than half (57%) setting skills-based resolutions – only to drop them faster than any other age group. 50% of Gen Z will quit their resolutions in January versus Millennials (35%), Gen X (22%) and Boomers (18%).

So why are we throwing in the towel? Nearly half of people (49%) blame a lack of motivation, while others say they simply don’t have the time (34%), change their mind (29%), can’t afford it (26%), or realise their goals were unrealistic (24%).

With a quarter of Brits (25%) saying they take inspiration from relatable role models – rising to more than half (54%) of Gen Z – Trainline is stepping in to help beat the January blues. This Quitter’s Day (Friday 9 January), Trainline will launch The way to train station – a one-day pop-up at London’s King’s Cross packed with famous faces ready to whip resolutions back into shape, because when it comes to New Year goals, quitting early doesn’t have to be the final stop.

Commuters can grab cooking tips from celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, learn dance moves with TV favourite Curtis Pritchard, find sporting inspiration from England Red Roses star Tatyana Heard, and get moving with high-energy workouts led by fitness icon Mr Motivator.

Sarah Helppi, UK country director, at Trainline, comments: “Our research shows people really do want to improve when it comes to New Year’s goals, they just need a bit of support and motivation to keep going. That’s what The way to train station is all about. From trying a new skill to getting moving or doing something creative, we’re helping train travellers make the most of their journey in a fun, feel-good way. We’re excited to add a burst of energy to January and help the nation get back on track with their goals, but also highlight how we can support them on their journeys.”

Award-winning Chef, Tom Kerridge, said: “January is the perfect time to challenge ourselves to try something new. Especially when it comes to cooking, it can often feel daunting, but The way to train station is here to show you just how easy it can be. If I can help someone feel more confident in the kitchen this year, that’s a win.”

TV star, Curtis Pritchard, said: “I want to show that when it comes to keeping up your New Year’s resolutions and hobbies, it’s simply giving people the chance to try a few moves, loosen up and start the year feeling good. You don’t need to be in a big studio to get your body moving, and this station is the perfect way to show you can dance anywhere!”

Fitness icon, Mr Motivator, said: “Using any moment to get the body going and being active is exactly the kind of energy we all need at the start of the year. A few quick bursts can lift your mood, boost your motivation and set you up for the day. I’m thrilled to bring some of my Mr Motivator moves to The Way To Train station and remind everyone that getting on track, and staying on track, leads to a fitter, healthier you.”

England Red Roses & Gloucester-Hartpury star, Tatyana Heard, said: “We all know sticking to goals can be tough, especially in those first weeks of January. Sport has taught me how taking small, consistent steps can be so powerful and I’m excited to help train goers tap into that mindset. I want to bring that same motivation to The way to train stationand inspire Brits to reconnect with their strength or try something new for the year ahead.”

The way to train station highlights Trainline’s commitment to supporting travellers throughout their journeys, end-to-end. Most recently having launched a new suite of features designed to support travellers through rail disruption, including Travel Forecast Delay Repay notifications, Travel Assistant, and Train Swap.
