The Boatyard Distillery Ireland’s first B Corp Certified distillery, The Boatyard Distillery, is celebrating Earth Day – held each year on 22nd April – with a series of initiatives starting 17 April.

These focus on highlighting the distillery’s commitment to improving the environment, reducing waste, and reusing materials wherever possible.

–          Boatyard Distillery has partnered with The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone in London to create a dedicated ‘Earth Day’ menu of four cocktails is inspired by the four elements.  The cocktails will use Boatyard Double Gin, Vodka, Old Tom Gin and Sloe Gin. These are made using a variety of sustainable waste ingredients, some directly sourced from the distillery and some recovered from the bar. They will be available at Seymour’s Parlour for a week from 22nd– 29th April.

–          The distillery will include Irish wildflower seeds sourced from Connecting to Nature in Ireland with all direct orders. These seeds provide pollinators with much-needed food for the year.

–          Finally, on April 28th, the distillery team will join the big Big Fermanagh Litterpick, helping to ensure that the beautiful local environment remains unspoilt.

Joe McGirr, Boatyard’s CEO, comments: “As the island of Ireland’s first B Corp certified distillery, it’s crucial that we use our platform to promote environmental protection. Events like Earth Day provide an excellent opportunity to showcase what can be achieved; businesses should be thinking like this at all times.”

Declan McGurk, Boatyard Distillery commercial director, adds: “These activities are just a snapshot of what we do. Our team and partners at the Zetter Townhouse Marylebone have worked together to create activities that inspire others to work in ways that support environmental protection.”

These build on a strong start to the year for The Boatyard Distillery, following its achievement of B-Corp status in February and its recent recognition as Northern Ireland’s most sustainable business[1]. The company continues its sustainable-minded approach as it aims to eliminate single-use glass bottles in its visitor centre, thanks to the introduction of a bottle refill programme and newly designed eco refill station. It introduced refill pouches for use in bars and restaurants, which uses 84% less packaging than a conventional bottle, this are available to professionals  in the UK via distributor Speciality Brands.

Visit The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone, 28-30 Seymour St, London, W1H 7JB from 22nd April to try its Earth Day Menu.
