Weetabix’s early careers scheme expands with new appointment

Weetabix, the nation’s favourite cereal, has made a significant commitment to fostering growth and cultivating talent with the creation of the dedicated role of Senior Early Careers Advisor. Christine Bryanton has been appointed to the position, with a remit of expanding upon Weetabix’s existing robust opportunity pipeline for those at the beginning of their professional journeys. This includes developing the apprenticeship scheme to encompass more business functions, and reinvigorating the graduate scheme.

Christine started her career working in local education and then moved to Siemens Mobility to manage apprentices from Level Three programmes up to degree level. In this role, she supported 150 apprentices, whilst also working with their line managers and liaising with suppliers to ensure the best possible experience for all participants in the scheme.

Commenting on her appointment, Bryanton said: “There’s enormous benefit to apprenticeships of all levels and types within different companies. However, Weetabix specifically has something very special to offer. Not only do apprentices get to experience a positive working environment and supportive company culture, but Weetabix really gives them the ability to have their say and be fully embraced as part of the team – all whilst learning real-world skills from our best-in-class Weetabix talent, and earning whilst they do so.

“We’ve already got some great success stories within the business. For instance, one of our finance graduates is planning to upskill himself in the near future using our apprenticeship scheme, proving that the two programmes go hand in hand. My future ambitions in this role are to ensure that everyone in Weetabix is fully aware of the benefits that apprentices bring and to diversify our early careers offering, branching out into new apprenticeships and a more structured graduate programme.”

Weetabix apprenticeship roles are now open within both Manufacturing and Engineering functions. The Level Three Engineering Apprenticeship (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician) is a four-year programme with three roles available which provides the opportunity to work alongside Weetabix’s experienced engineering teams within the factories, delivering specialised mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs.  There are also two roles available in the Level Three Manufacturing Apprenticeship to work alongside Weetabix’s manufacturing teams on a three year programme.

IT and HR apprentices will be appointed at the company in the next quarter, along with further apprenticeships and graduate programmes soon to be announced.
