Morrisons Foundation The Morrisons Foundation is today launching ‘Connecting Communities’, a new £1 million fund to help local charities improve, maintain and upgrade the shared spaces at the heart of their communities.

Grants of up to £20,000 are available for charities in local communities that need financial support to improve their physical spaces. Funding is specifically targeted at capital improvements, including new equipment, essential maintenance, or refurbishments.

Charities running spaces and activities that bring people together to connect, socialise and access vital support, such as village halls, youth clubs and community centres, are encouraged to apply for a share of the £1 million fund. This also includes organisations providing place-based support in the communities, including warm hubs for the elderly, school PTAs and hospices.

David Scott, chair of the Morrisons Foundation, said: “Thriving communities are built on the strength of their shared spaces but funding to sustain them is in short supply. Our new Connecting Communities grants will breathe new life into community facilities that bring people together and provide important local services.”

Joseph Clark-Bland, Morrisons’ charity and community manager, said: “Our new Connecting Communities fund is designed to unlock the potential of local neighbourhoods facilities. We know many charities providing vital services in our communities are struggling. We want to help ensure they remain open and accessible.”

Since launching in 2015, the Morrisons Foundation has donated almost £50 million through community grants and matched the fundraising of Morrisons colleagues, supporting thousands of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Charities with a project that could benefit from the new Connecting Communities fund are invited to find out more and apply at morrisonsfoundation.com.
