MANGO, an international leader in the fashion industry, has announced that Marlies Hersbach, currently chief online & customer officer and a member of the executive committee, will take over as head of the people division from January 2027, replacing David Payeras in his role.
“The decision to appoint Marlies to lead the People division is in line with our aim to further align MANGO’s culture and values with our business strategy and reality, whilst also committing to the internationalisation of our company. This appointment also reflects our firm commitment to fostering internal talent and strengthening female leadership within the company’s senior management,” explains Toni Ruiz, chairman and chief executive officer of MANGO.
Hersbach is an executive with a solid and proven international track record at fashion companies such as Kiabi and Pimkie. She also possesses in-depth knowledge of MANGO’s business and corporate culture. She joined the company in 2020 as International Retail Director. After serving as E-commerce Executive Director in 2024, she was promoted in July 2025 to Chief Online & Customer Officer, becoming a member of the Catalan multinational’s Management Committee.
“Taking on the leadership of People is a new challenge that I am tackling with great enthusiasm. My career at MANGO has allowed me to see first-hand that it is the people, our teams and our culture that really make the difference. My ambition is to continue driving an organisation that develops talent, fosters collaboration and creates the conditions for people and the business to keep growing together, thereby supporting MANGO’s growth and transformation,” says Marlies Hersbach.
Meanwhile, the current chief people officer, David Payeras, is set to embark on a new path at the end of the year to pursue new professional projects. Since joining MANGO in 2021, Payeras has played a key role in the evolution of the department, putting people at the centre and supporting the business through a period of significant growth and organisational transformation, during which the company has almost doubled its turnover and expanded its workforce from 13,000 to over 18,000 employees.
MANGO would like to thank David Payeras for his dedication, his strategic vision and his outstanding contribution to driving organisational transformation and talent development during his time at the company. His work has been instrumental in supporting the company’s international expansion and laying the foundations for the MANGO of the future. This evolution has been recognised through various international accolades, including being awarded the Top Employer 2026 certification and being ranked by the Financial Times and Forbes as one of the best companies to work for.
