Poundland hiring 400 colleagues for temporary seasonal roles

Poundland Poundland is gearing up for the festive season by looking to recruit 400 seasonal colleagues to help its store teams deliver great value and service to customers across the UK and Ireland.

The seasonal recruitment is another sign that Poundland has firmly established a recovery that has seen it return to like-for-like sales growth and profitability.

Having delivered 3.3 per cent like-for-like growth in the final quarter of its financial year, and 6.7 per cent in the month of September, Poundland is gearing up to deliver customers a Christmas to be proud of.

From general merchandise to grocery to clothing, Poundland has already completed a top-to-bottom range re-invention and now stores are getting set for Christmas with new toys and lines added each week through October and November.

There’s a full range of new festive bags and wraps in its ‘three for £3’ pick-and-mix-style offer already in store.

And in grocery, there’s Christmas items such as sweet and chocolate tubes at £1, and a market-leading two for £3 across key brands such as Matchmakers, Maltesers and Toffifee.

With the countdown to Christmas underway, Poundland is now opening an invitation to join its teams for the busy festive period, helping keep shelves stocked and stores running smoothly ahead of the big day.

Those interested in joining the team can find out which Poundland stores across the UK and Dealz stores in the Republic of Ireland are recruiting by visiting www.poundlandcareers.co.uk.

Seasonal colleagues play an important role in supporting existing store teams during one of the busiest times of the retail calendar, helping customers find everything they need for Christmas.

Alan Smallman, retail director at Poundland, said: “After a busy year getting the business back on track, our store teams are excited about delivering our best Christmas in years as our all-new seasonal ranges begin landing in store.

“Our people make the difference whatever the time of year, but at Christmas they play a special role looking after our customers.

“We look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our teams to help make this Christmas really special.”

Last month, Poundland announced that it will keep all its stores closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as a thank you to colleagues for their hard work over the past twelve months.

Working in retail during the Christmas period can also be demanding, so the Christmas and New Year closures will give colleagues valuable time to relax and enjoy time off with family and friends.

Adding to the festive spirit, Poundland is giving every colleague in November a book of £25 vouchers they can use in-store during December 2025 and January 2026, helping them with extra cost of Christmas.
