Currys opens its new state of the art Cambridge store today, bringing tech to life through hands-on experiences and the friendly, expert advice customers expect at any Currys store.

With a fresh look and an easier-to-browse layout, the store takes the familiar Currys shop a step further. New digital screens, an upgraded gaming zone, hands-on demo areas and a purpose-built Business Hub puts customers at the heart of the design, giving them more ways to see, feel and try tech than ever before.

Just in time for the festive period, the opening weekend will feature exclusive deals, a range of activities, giving customers the chance to win great prizes, get hands-on with the latest tech, quiz our experts and discover our exclusive events calendar.

It marks the start of an ongoing programme of weekly showcases, demonstrations and experiences designed to help customers get even more from their technology. Visit the Cambridge Currys store website to find out what’s on.

Highlights include:

  • Showcase and demo zones: try tech before buying, with dedicated spaces for coffee demonstrations and an enhanced gaming experience.
  • Currys Business Hub: a dedicated space where local business customers can get expert advice and find the right tech for their business.
  • Front-of-store event space: a flexible area for live demos, product showcases and regular events – supported by suppliers.
  • Enhanced Order & Collect area: making online purchases easier to collect.
  • Improved recycling points: drop off old tech in exchange for at least £5 in Currys vouchers.
  • New shopping layout: designated seating areas to talk through purchases with colleagues, and new lighting and sound system.

“I’m so excited about today’s opening, and about where it takes Currys next, with our stores and online working together as one. Colleagues are at the very heart of what makes Currys special, and our stores give them a brilliant place to bring amazing technology to life, helping customers discover, experience and get the most from the latest tech. I can’t wait to welcome Cambridge customers into the new store and see them enjoying even more ways to see, feel and try the tech for themselves,” Lindsay Haselhurst, chief pperating officer, Currys.

The store will also test improvements that could be introduced elsewhere across the estate, depending on customer response and results. The retailer has relocated to this new premises a few doors along from its previous store at Cambridge Retail Park, continuing its 26th year in the city.

As one of almost 300 Currys stores across the UK&I, Cambridge combines the convenience of shopping online with expert help in person. Customers can research online, get hands-on in store or order online and collect, choosing how they shop to suit their day.
