Salford Shopping Centre has announced the appointment of their new shopping centre manager, Rory Fleming, who joins their senior leadership team.
With almost 30 years of experience, Rory, a former shopping centre manager at Beacon Shopping Centre, Newcastle and Queen Street Shopping Centre in Darlington, has spent the last 10 years at Morgan Quarter in Cardiff where he oversaw the centre winning two Green Apple Awards for environmental best practice and a Purple Apple Award for marketing.
Rory also oversaw the development of a commercial office space and was responsible for the creation of the City of Arcades, in recognition of the city’s Edwardian and Victorian shopping arcades, which has won several awards since 2019.
Built in 1972, Salford Shopping Centre has long been a stalwart of the local community having introduced partnerships with a local food bank and welcomed an artist-in-residence during the last year alone.
Salford Shopping Centre houses a range of leading high-street retailers alongside smaller, independent shops and features 81 shopping units as well as an indoor market complex.
The centre has exciting plans for 2023 in the form of community outreach projects supporting local residents, expansion of artist exhibitions and community-led cultural events throughout the year such as the King’s Coronation in May.
Speaking on his appointment, Rory said: “I’m delighted to join the team at Salford Shopping Centre.
“The focus on community inclusion very much aligns with my vision and goals for the future and I can’t wait to get started on implementing some ideas which get to the heart of the Salford community.
