And the latest batch of nine stores will feature the very latest Pepco family clothing that has rolled out to 500-plus of Poundland’s existing UK and Ireland stores.
In two locations on this week’s list, Poundland will relocate into the Wilko units from nearby stores. In Brentwood Poundland will move a third of a mile from 79 High Street into the Bay Tree Centre and in Worksop, it will move into a new unit in the same Priory Shopping Centre that’s it currently calls home.
Both new stores are capable of offering Poundland’s widest ranges of clothing, homewares and groceries.
Poundland’s retail director Darren Kay said: “We’re proud that to date, we’re the only retailer that’s delivered on its promise to re-open Wilko stores and offer roles to their people.
“In four short weeks we’ll have opened 37 Wilko stores – an amazing achievement by hundreds of colleagues right across our Poundland business.
“The team that’s making this happen are part of something very special – protecting jobs, keeping high streets alive and serving many new communities.
“I’d like to thank them for all the hard work that’s making sure these former Wilko stores begin their new Poundland journeys in such good shape.
“While more extensive refits will be scheduled for the new year, we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to their new stores this weekend.”
Poundland continues to prioritise former Wilko colleagues for roles in Poundland and encourage them to follow Poundland’s posts on LinkedIn or visit www.poundlandcareers.co.uk to find details of open roles and how to apply for them.
This coming Saturday, Poundland will also open a brand new store at Queens Retail Park in Stafford, ST17 4SU. The new large destination store will feature Poundland’s widest ranges and create 15 new roles.
