Danish variety retailer, Flying Tiger Copenhagen, is preparing to open two new stores this November as the retail giant gears up for a fruitful festive shopping season.

The first store will open in Metrocentre in Gateshead on Thursday 2nd November. The retailer previously had three high street stores in the Northeast across Sunderland and Newcastle, however, decided to consolidate their sites to focus on opening in the Metrocentre, where footfall is higher. The new site is 319 sqm and will create 17 new jobs in the area.

The second store will open the following day on Friday 3rd at Bluewater in Kent. At just over 293 sqm, Bluewater will launch with its first run of Christmas stock, taking on 12 permanent staff members and 5 temp staff in preparation for the festive season.

Michael Burke, managing director for Flying Tiger Copenhagen UK & IE, comments: “Both Bluewater and MetroCentre are significant new store openings for us, they both will be launching fully stocked for Christmas, the most important trading period of the year. Metro Centre is an opportunity for Flying Tiger Copenhagen to return to northeast, whilst Bluewater is the largest shopping centre outside of London, making both great additions to our estate. Our philosophy is a richer life doesn’t cost a fortune, we provide a sustainable and unique offering that sets us apart from other brands on the high street. With new limited-edition collections arriving each week into our stores created by our own award-winning design team, we make good design affordable and available to everyone.”
