Poundland has today confirmed that it will once again keep its stores closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as a thank you for colleagues’ hard work over the last 12 months.
Working in retail in the run-up to Christmas can be hectic so confirmation that Poundland stores will remain closed on 26 December and 1 January will be welcomed, giving colleagues an extended break to spend time with their families and loved ones.
What’s more Poundland is planning to double its colleague discount for its thousands of colleagues on weekends ahead of Christmas and bringing even more cheer.
And every one of its colleagues will get a £25 voucher to spend in store to make their pounds go further.
The colleague Christmas package follows Poundland’s recruitment drive for over 1,000 new seasonal colleagues to fill temporary roles in its stores across the UK and Ireland.
Those interested in applying for roles can monitor locations where Poundland in the UK and Dealz in the Republic of Ireland are looking for seasonal help via its career website at https://www.poundlandcareers.co.uk.
While the majority of these shop floor roles will end on Christmas Eve, some will also be extended until early January.
Simon Wells, people director at Poundland said its colleagues new and old, temporary or permanent were the secret to making Christmas special for its customers.
“We have brilliant colleagues here at Poundland & Dealz who work incredibly hard throughout the year, bringing our brands to life every day and supporting our customers.
“But we know they all particularly shine at Christmas, bringing the magic to our stores that our customers know and love. We’re delighted to be able to support them with a well-earned rest once the festive season is over.”
Since opening its first store in Burton-upon-Trent in 1990, Poundland has built a network of over 800 stores in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, offering top brands and quality own-brand products that provide customers with amazing value every day.
