Excitement was in the air today [17th January] as UK home, leisure and garden retailer, The Range, opened its first of many superstores. Welcoming eager locals and visitors alike to Christchurch, where the new store debuts, for the first time, ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’.

Shoppers lined up early to explore the new retail destination, bringing together its signature selection of affordable homeware and stylish furnishings with a gardening hub for those green-fingered individuals.

The ‘Garden Centres by Homebase’ offers everything from vibrant outdoor plants and gardening tools to essential supplies for both novice and seasoned gardeners, proving the superstore as a one-stop shop for home and garden enthusiasts.

Adding to the excitement, the opening was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Councillor Paul Alan Hilliard and the first customer through the door received a prize worth £150. The following 50 shoppers in the queue took home exclusive goodie bags as well, filled with over 20 of The Range’s most popular products.

Brand representatives from key suppliers, including Westland, Burts, Calor Gas and Husqvarna were also on hand at the grand opening, offering shoppers expert advice, demonstrations, giveaways and samples.

Today also marked the opening of The Range superstores in Pollokshaws, Glasgow and Kings Heath, Birmingham, with more planned throughout 2025.

CEO of CDS Superstores, trading as The Range, wilko and Homebase, Alex Simpkin said: “We’re thrilled to open our doors in Christchurch, Birmingham and Glasgow today, and introduce our customers to the new The Range superstore experience. The exciting addition of the ‘Garden Centre by Homebase’ to this format continues to represent our ongoing commitment to providing everything from homeware to outdoor living under one roof.

“We’re committed to retaining Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader scope of products that our customers expect from The Range. The team has worked incredibly hard to get these stores up and running for our existing and new visitors to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming shoppers from across the region to explore all that we have to offer!”

The new Christchurch store also features the free Click & Collect service, allowing customers to shop either online at www.homebase.co.uk or therange.co.uk and grab their purchases in-store within 60 minutes.
