The Perfume Shop launches tree planting at Checkout

The Perfume Shop launches tree planting at CheckoutThe Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest perfume specialist, is proud to expand its partnership with restorative platform veritree by launching a new online tree planting at checkout service. Customers can now plant 4 verified trees for just £1 with every perfume purchase, supporting ecosystem restoration and empowering local communities in Kenya.

The new initiative builds on The Perfume Shop’s ongoing work with veritree and reflects the brand’s commitment to doing more for people and the planet. With each donation, veritree will plant 4 verified trees, with transparent tracking and real-world impact.

This launch adds to the brand’s popular in-store perfume bottle recycling scheme, where customers can return any empty glass perfume bottle, recycle it in-store and receive 15% off their purchase the same day. For every bottle recycled, a tree is also planted through the veritree partnership.

To date, this partnership has delivered:

  • 99,635 verified trees planted
  • 10 hectares of forest restored
  • 199 workdays provided to local communities in Kenya

Gill Smith, managing director at The Perfume Shop, said: “We’re always looking for ways to make it easier for our customers to do good while they shop and our new checkout tree planting initiative is a simple, low-cost way to make a big difference. We’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve made so far with veritree and are excited to build on this as part of our long-term sustainability journey.”

The Perfume Shop launches tree planting at Checkout

The Perfume Shop’s tree planting at checkout initiative is just one part of its wider, long-term investment into sustainability across its operations:

In 2024, The Perfume Shop unveiled over 32 newly modernised, experiential stores across the UK and Ireland, with around 35 additional refits planned for 2025. These new stores feature open layouts, upgraded services, and energy-efficient LED lighting as part of the brand’s target to reduce energy consumption by 30% by 2030 (vs. 2015).

The brand invested £2.5 million in automated packaging machines, which tailor box sizes to fit orders precisely, cutting down on cardboard waste, reducing parcel sizes, and lowering delivery emissions. The cardboard used is made in the UK and is 90% recyclable, contributing to a greener supply chain.

Through educational initiatives and in-store sustainability efforts, the brand encourages customers to take part in greener practices and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
