Zuber Issa Duckhams Oils is proud to announce that UK entrepreneur and business leader Zuber Issa CBE has completed a strategic investment in Duckhams, the iconic British oil brand with over 125 years of history in lubricants, for an undisclosed amount.

This investment marks a significant step in revitalising and expanding the legacy of one of the most trusted names in lubricants in the UK and across international markets.

For 125 years, Duckhams has been a pioneer of product innovation and excellence, carving a history of ground-breaking achievements, from setting the land speed record to developing Europe’s first multigrade oil.

Alexander Duckham established his oil company in 1899, and his entrepreneurial, pioneering spirit has been at the company’s heart since then. Duckhams was responsible for developing revolutionary new process oils that controlled the build-up of carbon deposits in the 1920s and launched the first synchromesh gear oil in the 1930s. In 1951, Duckhams introduced Europe’s first multigrade oil, an innovation which transformed lubrication technology forever.

Duckhams and motorsports have been synonymous with each other along the brand’s legacy of 125 years. This legacy began with the land-speed record in 1948 and extends to numerous F1, BTCC, British GT, Formula Ford, and BRIC Superbikes championships with celebrated drivers of yesteryear like Ayrton Senna, James Hunt, John Surtees and current champions like Dan Cammish, Shaun Balfe, Adam Smalley and Daryl DeLeon.

The new investment presents a unique opportunity to build on Duckhams’ established legacy while propelling it into a new era of innovation and growth. With decades of entrepreneurial experience and a proven track record in scaling businesses, Zuber Issa aims to expand the brand’s footprint across new and existing markets and channels, leveraging cutting-edge research and development to meet the evolving demands of modern engines.

Mike Bewsey, Duckhams Global CEO, commented: “Zuber’s equity investment signals strong confidence in the Duckhams brand, its leadership, and its long-term vision.”

“Zuber is a very successful entrepreneur with a proven track record and strategic insights that will be invaluable as we scale our business both in the UK and globally. This partnership opens exciting new possibilities for Duckhams.”

The investment signifies a commitment to preserving Duckhams’ heritage and a bold vision for the future, positioning the brand as a major player in the evolving lubricants market.

Zuber Issa CBE said: “Duckhams is a brand with an extraordinary legacy and immense potential for growth. I am confident the brand will resonate with customers both in the United Kingdom and globally given car manufacturers are producing more efficient vehicles that need premium grade oils and fuels.”

“By investing in innovation, sustainability, and strategic market expansion, we can ensure Duckhams can establish itself to be a leader in the lubricant sector for years to come.”
