Cornish Bakery presses ahead at pace with a pipeline of new openings this autumn

Cornish BakeryFollowing a record-breaking summer, fast growing, independent Cornish Bakery is pressing ahead at pace with a pipeline of new openings this autumn including development of its (set to be) largest ever bakery at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. The company recently opened bakeries in Woodbridge and Hereford.

Confirmed autumn and winter 2025 openings include Worcester, Ashford Designer Outlet, Exeter and Newbury. Beyond these four sites, a further five locations are in advanced negotiation stages, underlining Cornish Bakery’s strong growth trajectory.

In Portsmouth, the business is also heavily investing in creating its biggest-ever bakery at Gunwharf Quays. This landmark two-story site will feature an expanded menu of Cornish Tapas and Afternoon Tea alongside its core product range of award-winning pastries, viennoiseries, cakes, pasties and sausage rolls. The flagship will operate alongside Cornish Bakery’s existing takeaway kiosk, which opened earlier this summer, building on the company’s strong 24-year presence at Gunwharf Quays.

More than simply new sites, each opening is an investment in place and a sympathetic homage to its location. Cornish Bakery takes pride in creating stylish, welcoming spaces that respect and honour the character and history of each property and the community it enters. Often these are thoughtful and sympathetic restorations of buildings that are revived for contemporary community use. Every bakery is beautifully bespoke, designed to be a hub where locals and visitors alike can spend time, relax, and enjoy a premium bakery experience.

Jeremy Smith, property director for Cornish Bakery said, “We have some fantastic new openings coming in the remainder of 2025, and a strong pipeline for the start of 2026. Our expansion reflects the confidence we have in the strength of our offering and in the future of the premium bakery sector. We’re delighted to be investing in such great locations, bringing our bakery experience into the heart of communities.

Jeremy continued, “Every bakery is designed with real care for the buildings we move into as we create warm, stylish and individual spaces that customers want to return to repeatedly. We’re actively seeking more locations across UK high streets, tourist destinations, and shopping outlets, and we’re excited about bringing Cornish Bakery to even more communities across the UK.”
