InstaVolt launches multi-million pound upgrade programme to future-proof UK’s EV charging network

nstaVolt, the UK’s leading ultra-rapid EV charging network, has completed the first installation in a planned nationwide upgrade programme, replacing two 50kW chargers with a single 120kW ultra-rapid unit at Chineham Business Park in Basingstoke.

The upgraded charger delivers significantly faster charging speeds in a wider bay designed to be more accessible. The faster charging speeds help minimise wait times, making the experience quicker and more convenient for drivers.

The site will benefit local EV drivers who regularly use the location, including commuters, business park employees and users of neighbouring facilities. With faster speeds and a more spacious bay, the new charger makes it even easier for drivers to charge during their daily routines.

This milestone marks the start of a multi-million-pound investment designed to enhance the speed, reliability and convenience of EV charging across the country. Further upgraded sites will be announced over the coming weeks, as InstaVolt continues to roll out improvements to locations across the UK.

All upgraded chargers will deliver ultra-rapid speeds and offer the same simple, contactless payment experience InstaVolt is known for. As with every charger on the network, the energy supplied is 100% renewable, and each site will meet InstaVolt’s high standards for reliability, which currently exceeds 99% uptime.

Delvin Lane, CEO at InstaVolt, said: “Our network has always been built on listening to drivers and delivering what they need.

“This nationwide programme is about raising the bar for accessibility and convenience, ensuring every EV driver, from commuters to families, has the confidence to charge quickly, easily, and reliably at InstaVolt.”

This major infrastructure programme will see outdated chargers replaced with newer technology, ensuring the public charging network is ready to meet the needs of tomorrow’s electric drivers.

The Chineham upgrade is the first of many and a clear sign of InstaVolt’s ongoing commitment to investing in Britain’s charging future.
