The Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir today announced the release of their 7-inch single.
All profits from the vinyl will go directly to Shout, the UK’s free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging crisis support service, specifically aimed at helping farmers’ mental wellbeing.
Formed by a shared love of music, lager, and a good grumble about the weather, The Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir delivers the authentic sound of rural life. The single captures the sound of muddy fields, broken fences, and the quiet satisfaction of a golden pint after a working day that starts and ends in the dark, offering listeners a tangible piece of agricultural artistry.
The choir emphasises their desire to create ‘something permanent, something you could look at and think, yes, I own a record of some farmers singing. In an emergency you could also use it as a coaster.’
Beyond the music, the choir’s debut serves a critical purpose. Farming is widely recognised as one of the toughest professions, characterised by long hours, brutal conditions, and frequent setbacks. These pressures can lead to feelings of depression, desperation, and isolation among those in the agricultural community.
In response to this urgent need, The Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir is supporting longstanding partner Shout, ensuring all profits from the 7-inch single directly fund the vital service. Through their partnership, Shout and Hawkstone are working together to ensure every farmer knows that mental health support is readily available.
Farmers, or anyone concerned about a farmer, are can text HAWKSTONE to 85258 to start a confidential conversation and access the support they need.
The choir emphasises, ‘Talking might seem like a big step, but it can make a huge difference. We know that farming is hard, but you should never have to suffer alone.’
