Islands Chocolate is making its Waitrose debut this spring, continuing its mission to make farm-to-table drinking chocolate more accessible across the UK – with products landing in 130+ stores nationwide from 31st May.
The listing marks a significant milestone for the brand; its second major national retailer secured in the last 12 months, following its launch with Tesco across 500+ stores last year.
Already a favourite across leading independent cafés, coffee roasters and prestigious retailers including Ocado, Whole Foods Market, Bayley & Sage, Selfridges, and Fortnum & Mason, Islands Chocolate is now bringing its barista-quality standards to Waitrose shelves. The Waitrose range includes:
Classic Hot Chocolate Powder (200g)
Mint Hot Chocolate Powder (200g)
A Chocolate Aisle Shake-Up
Just as consumers have come to value single origin coffee and fine wine for their quality and traceability, the same is now true of specialty chocolate. Waitrose, with its like-minded customer base, is the natural home for Islands Chocolate.
“At Islands, everything begins with Cocoa. Grown, nurtured, and harvested by our own teams in the Caribbean and our partner farms at hand selected origins. It’s elevated through Craft. Our obsessive pursuit of flavour, texture, and quality from farm to table. And it’s all driven by Conscience. A belief that the people and places behind great chocolate deserve better.”
Wilf Marriott, Founder & CEO of Islands Chocolate
“Hot chocolate is having a major ‘grown-up’ moment, and we couldn’t be more excited to launch Islands Chocolate at Waitrose for our food lovers. We’ve seen a shift toward shoppers looking for chocolate with real provenance, and this brand hits that sweet spot perfectly. It’s incredibly rich, silky, and has that authentic ‘proper chocolate’ taste that makes every cup feel like a total indulgence.”
Polly Astbury, Hot Drinks Buyer at Waitrose
Built on a commitment to zero slavery, zero child labour, zero deforestation and fair pay for farmers at every step, Islands Chocolate exists to prove that what’s good for the people who grow cocoa is equally good for the people who enjoy it.
