Tesco and Ella’s Kitchen launch exclusive vegetable-packed baby weaning multipack

Tesco and Ella’s KitchenTesco has teamed up with Ella’s Kitchen, the UK’s leading baby food brand[1], to launch an exclusive weaning multipack packed with packed with veg, with no added salt, sugar or flavourings.

The new multipack – The Weaning One – is designed to help little ones discover vegetables right from the very beginning.

Developed exclusively for Tesco, the multipack brings together four of Ella’s Kitchen’s most popular veg-only First Tastes pouches for the first time:

  • Ella’s Kitchen Sweet Potatoes First Tastes
  • Ella’s Kitchen Carrots First Tastes
  • Ella’s Kitchen Peas First Tastes
  • Ella’s Kitchen Sweetcorn First Tastes

With fewer than one in ten children in the UK meeting the recommended target of five portions of fruit and vegetables a day[2], helping little ones become familiar with veg early on can play an important role in building healthy habits that last a lifetime. Research suggests children may need to try a vegetable up to ten times before accepting it, which is why early and repeated exposure during weaning matters.[3]

The introduction of The Weaning One reflects a shared commitment from Tesco and Ella’s Kitchen to continue evolving the baby food category and supporting parents during weaning. The veg-only multipack expands the range of savoury, vegetable-led options available, helping little ones experience a variety of flavours early on while giving parents and carers a convenient choice alongside home-cooked food.

Claire Basely, Consultant Nutritionist, Ella’s Kitchen, said:

“We know how tricky it can be for parents and carers to get little ones to eat their veggies, yet research shows that offering veg-first, frequently and in a variety throughout the weaning journey can help promote acceptance of vegetables that tracks into early childhood and beyond.

“That’s why we are excited to collaborate with Tesco to introduce this handy veg-only pack, supporting parents and carers while helping little ones explore the taste of vegetables alongside home-cooked food.”

Ben Hardell, Buying Manager for Baby Food at Tesco, said:

“At Tesco, we are committed to supporting families at every life stage and helping everyone access foods that support a healthy, balanced diet.”

“We’re working with partners such as Ella’s Kitchen to develop veg-led options that offer a convenient way to include vegetables during weaning, alongside home cooking.”

The Weaning One will be available exclusively at Tesco stores nationwide from week commencing Monday 6 April, with an RRP of £4.50*.
