Tesco issues £1,000 cash deadline for shoppers this May

Tesco shoppers have been issued a month-long deadline to win an extra funding boost for their favourite good cause or charity.

This May, shoppers can head to Tesco to help win £1,000 for a cause in their local community, just by doing their usual weekly shop or buying F&F clothing online.

For a third year running Tesco and the UK’s leading fundraising cashback platform, easyfundraising, have joined forces to relaunch the Tesco Community Pledge.

This year, Tesco and easyfundraising are donating five £1,000 funding pots to voluntary groups and community impact causes across the UK in a show of support amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The pledge makes it quick and simple for shoppers to support their local cause. Every time they shop at Tesco Groceries, or F&F Clothing, via the easyfundraising website or app from May 1-30 their chosen cause will automatically earn an entry into the Community Pledge draw and be in with a chance of winning a £1,000 cash boost.

Throughout May, first-time shoppers with Tesco Groceries online, will also raise £3 for their chosen cause, with 50p raised for every subsequent shop. In a change to previous years, shoppers can also make qualifying purchases at F&F Clothing, raising up to 4% cashback for their cause, while Tesco shoppers in-store who connect their bank card to the easyfundraising app will also raise a donation and put their cause in the draw.

Community causes can qualify for the Community Pledge by registering for free with easyfundraising. Qualifying causes include community groups, voluntary lead organisations, charities, CICs, churches and religious groups, sports clubs and teams, schools and PTAs, pre-schools, after school groups such as Scouts, Cadets and Brigades, and individuals going on expedition to support a humanitarian effort abroad.

Winners from last year’s Tesco Community Pledge, include Southend Care Bank in Essex which helps to break the cycle of hygiene poverty in Southend-on-Sea, by providing families in need with essential toiletries.

Reacting to the win, treasurer Charlotte Wood said: “It was completely unexpected, and we were delighted to have won. It really made a tangible difference to the families we support.”

Commenting on this year’s pledge, easyfundraising CEO James Moir said: “We are proud to be joining forces with Tesco again to give a little help to good causes.

“We believe that by working together, we can create a positive impact on the ground, ensuring that community organisations receive the support they need to thrive in these difficult times. The addition of our in-store raising capability with Tesco, and the exciting addition of F&F qualifying purchases also gives even more flexibility to the supporting shoppers in helping their cause secure this extra funding.”

Jemimah Ngu, from Tesco (F&F), added: “Every little helps and we are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with easyfundraising to provide the support that these illustrious charitable organisations need. Serving our local communities is a core value to Tesco and with easyfundraising we hope to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
