Sports Direct shoppers given £1,000 April deadline

Sports Direct shoppers have been issued an April deadline to win an extra funding boost for their local grassroots sports club or team.

The UK’s leading fundraising cashback platform, easyfundraising, and Sports Direct have joined forces this April to launch the Grand Giveaway that will see a £1,000 cash boost won by a club or team.

Shoppers can help win £1,000 for their favourite club, simply by shopping at Sports Direct online via the easyfundraising website or app this April. As well as generating a 2% cashback donation for their chosen club or team with every buy, every purchase up until April 30 will automatically earn an entry into the Grand Giveaway draw – giving their club or team a chance of winning the £1,000 funding pot.

Every order is another entry, so the more supporters that shop with Sports Direct this month, the greater chance their club has of winning.

To take part in the Grand Giveaway, sports clubs, teams and groups need to be registered with easyfundraising. All sporting causes registered on easyfundraising are eligible.

Newtonhill Netball Club, a community run netball club that has been providing netball sessions for players of all ages and abilities for over two decades in the small town of Newtonhill, Kincardineshire, were the winners of the previous easyfundraising and Sports Direct competition held in 2025.

Commenting on the win, Mhairi Stephen, one of the coaches at Newtonhill, said: “We were delighted to have won easyfundraising’s Sports Direct competition. At the time, we were raising funds for new kits for our junior teams, and the prize helped us take a huge step towards securing them.

“Using easyfundraising to raise donations takes the pressure off and allows fundraising throughout the year without volunteers needing to give hours of their time. Setting it up was simple and the ongoing admin is minimal. Easyfundraising isn’t too much to ask of people – it’s just a few clicks.”

James Moir, CEO of easyfundraising, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer this £1,000 funding boost as we team up with Sports Direct this April. Grassroots sports clubs have felt the cost-of-living crisis more than most in recent years, and any extra funding can go a long way in ensuring they continue to thrive as cornerstones of their community.”

To date, more than £8m has been raised for grassroots sports causes on easyfundraising. Register your club or team to take part in the Grand Giveaway here.
