St Pierre launches limited-edition Caramelised Onion Brioche Buns

St PierreSt Pierre, the UK’s number one brioche bran, is expanding its best-selling range with the launch of a new limited-edition 4-pack Caramelised Onion Brioche Buns, available in retailers nationwide.

Designed to capitalise on demand for affordable indulgence, the new SKU offers shoppers an accessible way to elevate everyday meals, from midweek dinners to summer barbecues. Pairing St Pierre’s signature soft, golden brioche with a rich, gently sweet, caramelised onion flavour, the buns deliver a premium, flavour-led twist that brings depth and differentiation to the bakery fixture.

The launch builds on the brand’s strong track record of flavour innovation. Products such as last year’s St Pierre Spicy Chilli Brioche Buns have proven highly effective, driving significant sales and contributing to 54 per cent growth in savoury brioche over a single summer period[iv]. These seasonal launches continue to play a key role in St Pierre’s growth strategy, helping retailers create excitement at shelf while encouraging shoppers to trade up for products that feel premium yet accessible.

With UK shoppers showing a strong appetite for innovation, and research from Mintel highlighting continued interest in new flavours and formats, flavour is becoming a key purchase driver. Layered sweet and savoury profiles are gaining traction, and St Pierre’s Caramelised Onion Brioche Buns tap directly into this trend, delivering both familiarity and a point of difference.

The launch also aligns with evolving at-home dining habits, where consumers are looking to recreate more elevated, restaurant-style experiences. Premium bakery products such as brioche buns provide a simple way to upgrade meal occasions, particularly during the key barbecue season, where they play a central role in burgers and shared dining moments.

Available from April to September, the seasonal SKU is designed to drive category growth during the summer peak, supporting both planned purchases and impulse trade-up. The product will also benefit from St Pierre’s distinctive packaging, helping it stand out on shelf and maximise visibility during a highly competitive trading period.

Gill Riley, global VP of marketing at St Pierre Groupe, comments: “Flavour-led innovation continues to be a powerful driver of growth within bakery, particularly during barbecue season when shoppers are looking to elevate the occasion. Our Caramelised Onion Brioche Buns deliver a subtle balance of sweetness and savoury depth, offering something new and exciting while staying true to the quality and indulgence shoppers expect from St Pierre.

“As with our previous limited-edition launches, this product is designed not only to add variety, but to bring new shoppers into the category and create a clear trade-up opportunity for retailers.”

The Caramelised Onion Brioche Buns are available in a 4-pack (RRP £2.50) and are expected to drive seasonal excitement, increase purchase frequency and reinforce St Pierre’s position as a key contributor to growth within the bakery category.
