UNIQLOBritish Land’s SouthGate shopping centre in Bath will welcome global Japanese fashion retailer UNIQLO to its line-up of independent, local and national brands, next spring/summer.

Opening on St Lawrence Street next to Apple, the brand will take c.8,000 sq ft across two floors. Recognised for its philosophy of creating innovative, comfortable, high-quality clothing, UNIQLO will bring both women’s and men’s LifeWear to the SouthGate store.

The arrival of the global brand at SouthGate reflects continued demand from leading fashion and beauty operators and follows Nobody’s Child’s arrival earlier this month. The popular women’s retailer opened its 11th standalone boutique at the centre, taking 1,500sq ft and joining recent arrivals Space NK and PureSeoul.

British Land continues to actively evolve the retail mix at SouthGate, targeting high-quality brands that complement the destination’s existing offer and respond to changing consumer demand. Its focus is on continually enhancing the customer experience and ensuring the destination remains relevant to both visitors and the local community.

Kate Lea, head of shopping centre leasing at British Land, said: “UNIQLO is a fantastic addition to SouthGate and a great example of the high-quality brands we’re targeting as we continue to evolve its offer. A focus on quality, design and innovation makes it a great fit for Bath’s customer base, and alongside recent arrivals like Nobody’s Child and Space NK, it demonstrates the strength of occupier demand for the city and the momentum behind our leasing strategy.

“We’re focused on creating the right mix of brands and experiences for our customers, while bringing new names to the city that give people even more reasons to visit SouthGate. We’re really looking forward to welcoming UNIQLO next spring.”

Alessandro Dudech, chief operation officer at UNIQLO, added: “Bath is an exciting next step in our continued growth across the UK, and SouthGate is a natural home for UNIQLO in the city. We look forward to bringing our LifeWear to the local community when we open next spring.”

UNIQLO’s move into Bath marks another milestone in its expansion plans, marking the second opening for the brand in the South West.
