More than a third of Aldi products now cheaper than a year ago

More than a third of Aldi products are now cheaper than they were a year ago, despite grocery prices rising across the wider market.

New figures from the supermarket reveal that 881 products are cheaper than in October 2025, while prices on a further 1,072 have remained unchanged.

This means almost three-quarters of Aldi’s products now cost the same or less than a year ago, bucking the wider trend as UK grocery inflation rose to 2.5% in the four weeks to 4 October, up from 2.3% the previous month.

Shoppers can save on everyday essentials, including 46p on Aldi’s 10 Thick Smoked Bacon Rashers (360g, now £1.79) and 30p on Grated Mature Cheddar (now £1.89), compared with October last year.

A 1kg tub of Greek Style Yogurt is also 26p cheaper at £1.49, while Mozzarella (125g) is down 14p to 55p and Red Kidney Beans cost 10p less at 39p.

The price reductions come as UK households continue to feel the pinch, with new research from Aldi revealing that more than half of Brits (56%) are concerned about the cost of their usual grocery shop rising between now and Christmas.

More than a third of Brits (37%) are also worried about their household finances over the coming months, with energy bills (36%), Christmas presents (23%) and groceries and household essentials (21%) among the costs causing the most concern.

The research also revealed how Brits are changing their shopping habits to save money. One in three (34%) have bought fewer treats or non-essential items in the past three months, while more than one in four (27%) have switched from branded products to cheaper own-label alternatives.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Families shouldn’t have to give up the activities, treats or hobbies they enjoy to keep their shopping bills down. Changing their supermarket rather than their lifestyle can help leave more money for those things, which is why making everyday essentials more affordable remains our priority.”

“With more than a third of our products cheaper than a year ago, customers can see the difference on the things they buy week in, week out. And importantly, our low prices are available to everyone, with no loyalty card or app needed.”

Aldi announced in September that it had invested £340 million in cutting prices on more than 1,000 products so far this year.

Aldi has been named as Which? Cheapest Supermarket for the past 11 months, and new data also shows that Aldi’s average unit price is 31% lower than its competitors.
