Aldi ScotlandAldi Scotland has peeled back the curtain on its top-selling products of 2025, with the humble banana crowned Scotland’s most-sold item of the year.

More than 15 million bananas were snapped up across Aldi’s 112 Scottish stores proving its growing a-peel to fruit-loving Scots.

The supermarket’s data has also uncovered Scotland’s snacking habits, with ready salted crisps quietly crunching their way to the top as the favourite crisp flavour with over 650,000 bags of ready salted crisps purchased – 20% more than the next contender, which was cheese and onion.

The classic Scotch pie remained the nation’s most purchased pie product.

In total, more than 60 million Aldi trips were recorded in 2025, as shoppers filled their baskets with everything from fresh Scottish meat to sweet treats, porridge and Specialbuys.

Aldi has revealed that customers bought over 45 million pints of Scottish milk – enough to fill 10 Commonwealth-sized swimming pools. Meanwhile, the four million Scotch pancakes purchased by hungry Scots in 2025 could stretch from Glasgow all the way to the Isle of Skye

Six million packets of sweets, 19 million packs of biscuits and 375,000 packets of porridge – that is over nine million bowls – were also added to baskets, while Aldi’s fresh meat and fish aisles continued to deliver in impressive numbers, with 48 million packs sold throughout the year. The mighty Scottish chicken breast beat out its competition to be the most popular choice for shoppers.

As the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket 2024, decided by Which?, Aldi remains one of the best value supermarkets in the country, ensuring its customers can enjoy a diverse range of quality food and drink, and Specialbuy products at everyday amazing prices.

Alan Leslie, buying director at Aldi said: “Scotland has spoken, and it seems we’re a nation powered by porridge, pies and a whole lot of bananas.

“It’s been another fantastic year for our Scottish producers, with millions of locally sourced food and drink items chosen by our customers.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who shopped with us in 2025, and we look forward to continuing to bring unbeatable value to our customers in the year ahead.”

Aldi remains a leading supporter of Scottish food and drink, and continues to be Scotland’s top supermarket for locally sourced products. In October, it was named in NFU Scotland’s ShelfWatch 2025 Mid-Year Report as the most prominent retailer championing Scottish produce, with 41% of its shelf stock now sourced locally.

Aldi’s diverse range of locally produced and global products are available at all of Aldi’s 112 Scottish stores. Available while stocks last.
