Aldi launches donation scheme with InPost and The Salvation Army

Aldi shoppers will soon be able to donate their pre-loved clothing and textiles at some of its stores across the country.

In partnership with The Salvation Army, the supermarket is accepting clothing and textile donations for the first time via its InPost Lockers, making it easier than ever for customers to donate pre-loved clothing as part of their shopping trip to help reduce textile waste.

Available at more than 500 stores nationwide from 22nd September, shoppers simply need to pack their items, and then place them into a locker, using the returns portal on the Aldi website – just like making an online return.

The items will be distributed to The Salvation Army to either be resold or repurposed, helping to raise funds for The Salvation Army’s work across the country with the most vulnerable in the community including those experiencing homelessness, the elderly and modern slavery victims.

Luke Emery, national sustainability director at Aldi, said: “This is a great and innovative way to expand our partnership with both InPost Lockers and The Salvation Army, and will allow shoppers to donate clothing at our stores for the first time.

“At Aldi, we’re all about providing convenience and efficiency and this new service means customers can recycle clothes with no extra hassle. It’s quick and easy to drop-off while you shop and will help make a difference to those that The Salvation Army supports.”

Neil Kuschel, CEO of InPost UK, commented: “This partnership with Aldi and The Salvation Army makes donating clothes to those in need easier than ever. InPost Lockers never sleep, meaning consumers will be able to make safe and secure donations to The Salvation Army 24/7. Thanks to this new delivery service and easy-to-use QR code, giving back is now as simple as sending a parcel.”

The announcement comes as Aldi recently announced a two-year partnership with The Salvation Army to support the charity’s work in the community.

Shoppers can also donate food to local charities, food banks and community groups via the donation points in Aldi stores nationwide.
