Amazon customers can now add fresh groceries to Same-Day Delivery orders in parts of London

AmazonAmazon today announces that customers in parts of London can now order fresh groceries with their Same-Day Delivery orders, alongside everything else they shop for on Amazon. It marks a significant grocery expansion for Amazon in the UK, with customers able to add fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, bread, eggs and frozen foods to the same basket as millions of items already available – from tea and coffee to household essentials, electronics, fashion, and beauty items.
It means a customer ordering headphones, a phone charger, nappies, or a children’s book can now add bananas, milk, eggs, chicken and more to a single order – and have it all arrive at their door within hours. It is being made available in parts of Central and East London initially, with plans to expand to additional postcodes and more areas across the country in the coming months.

Amazon Now will expand 30-minute delivery service to Manchester and Birmingham

Amazon Now delivers thousands of groceries and household essentials in about 30 minutes or less. Ultra-fast deliveries now available to customers across parts of London, with expansion to Manchester and Birmingham later this year. Prime members benefit from discounted delivery fees on Amazon Now orders.

“We’re focused on making grocery shopping easier and faster for customers, with low prices on millions of items,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager of Amazon. “Customers can now add fresh groceries to their regular Amazon orders in a single basket and have everything delivered the same day. Whether it’s fresh ingredients with a new cookbook, or milk and tea bags with a new kettle, you can place an order in the morning and have it delivered by the time you get home.”

Fresh food alongside everything else

Customers can now browse and buy fresh grocery items on Amazon.co.uk and the Amazon app, alongside millions of popular brands and everyday essentials already available for Same-Day Delivery. The service is designed around how customers already shop on Amazon, with those in eligible postcodes able to find perishable groceries in regular search results and product listings – as well as through the Grocery and Same-Day tabs at the top of the Amazon homepage or app.
Amazon customers already shop for groceries and household essentials online, with items such as baby wipes, toilet roll, coffee, biscuits, eggs and cucumbers among the most frequently purchased grocery products on Amazon in the UK – reflecting the growing demand for convenient delivery of everyday essentials.
All perishable items are stored, picked, and packed in temperature-controlled environments, with quality checks at multiple points before items leave for delivery. Temperature-sensitive products are delivered in insulated, recyclable packaging designed to maintain freshness where relevant – the same packaging used for Amazon Fresh deliveries. Customers can shop with confidence, with a freshness guarantee on perishable items ensuring groceries arrive as expected, or Amazon will make it right.

Saving money with prime

Prime members already benefit from free Same-Day Delivery on orders over £20 across millions of items on Amazon — and fresh groceries are now included with no additional delivery fees. For customers without a Prime membership, the service is available for a £5.99 delivery fee regardless of basket size.

Amazon delivers record Prime delivery speeds in 2025, with more than 1.6 billion items arriving the same or next day in the UK

UK Prime members saved an average of more than £200 on fast, free delivery last year – more than double the cost of annual membership.

Prime members also continue to enjoy fast, free delivery on millions of items, year-round low prices, access to exclusive deals and shopping events like Prime Day, and award-winning entertainment on Prime Video and Amazon Music.

Innovating to make grocery shopping easier and faster

Amazon continues to innovate to expand online delivery of groceries and household essentials for customers, helping them to find more ways to save time and money on everyday shopping. The Everyday Essentials category, which includes groceries and household items, now represents around one in three items ordered on Amazon.co.uk and is growing nearly twice as fast as other areas of the business.
The launch builds on Amazon’s continued investment in UK grocery, which includes the launch of Amazon Now earlier this year, increasing Amazon Fresh selection, expanding partnerships with Morrisons, Co-op, Iceland and Gopuff, and growing the number of Whole Foods Market stores.

Amazon expands Iceland grocery partnership nationwide

Iceland on Amazon has launched in cities including Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Nottingham with a wide selection of groceries delivered in as fast as 60 minutes.

Adding fresh groceries to Same-Day Delivery is the next step in Amazon’s grocery journey, giving customers another convenient way to shop, depending on what they need and when they need it.

Investing in the UK

The addition of fresh grocery delivery to Amazon’s Same-Day network is enabled by continued investment in fulfilment technology and logistics infrastructure that includes placing products closer to customers for faster delivery. It is part of Amazon’s broader commitment to the UK, following last year’s announcement to invest £40 billion in the UK over three years, creating thousands of jobs and driving innovation across its operations.
This announcement was one of a number of innovations showcased at Amazon’s Delivering the Future event in the UK this month.
