Asda launches free service worth £100 for a limited period, with Children in Need and Farewill

Asda has announced it is working with BBC Children in Need and Farewill in offering customers a free online will-writing service, normally priced at around £100, available now until Sunday 30th November.

The initiative follows Asda’s recent celebration of raising £3,106,401.25 for this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal to help support children, young people, and families across the UK.

Many families put off writing a will due to cost, time or uncertainty, despite it being one of the most important steps in safeguarding their loved ones’ future.

By removing the financial barrier entirely this proposition will help give customers peace of mind, practical support, and an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children who need it most.

Customers using the free service will also have the option to leave a gift to BBC Children in Need, such as a set cash amount or a percentage of their estate. Any gifts received will help fund programmes like the Fuelling Potential Programme, which tackles holiday hunger by providing nutritious meals and enriching activities at BBC Children in Need holiday sessions.

By combining accessible financial planning with the option to support Asda’s long-standing charity partner, the retailer hopes to help families to take an important life step.

Jenny Maden, head of insurance at Asda Money, said: “Research suggests that in the UK, only c.44% of the adult population have a will. This leaves a significant number of individuals potentially vulnerable to intestacy laws upon their passing.

Through this new offering, we are helping our customers take control of how their assets and belongings are distributed after their death, whilst also having the opportunity to make a meaningful charitable donation, to a fantastic cause. This is another significant step forward, in Asda supporting hard working families, with their financial affairs.”
