Bijou launches into Co-op Wholesale to drive premium growth in convenience

BijouBijou, the UK’s fastest-growing wine brand above £8.50 (ASP), launched into Co-op Wholesale (formerly Nisa) on 19th January 2026, extending its distribution across independent and symbol retailers nationwide.

According to Nielsen data (52 weeks ending 24/01/26, total market), French rosé is propping up the rosé category in the UK, up 23% in volume year-on-year, significantly outperforming the wider wine category. This sustained growth is being driven by premiumisation, with consumers moving away from sweet American styles and increasingly trading up into higher-quality rosé across both the off-trade and on-trade.

Bijou Terre de Providence Rosé provides convenience retailers with a proven French rosé brand already delivering strong performance across all channels. The brand is currently the 4th best-selling French rosé in the UK by value, and the fastest-growing wine brand over £8.50, adding 48,000 incremental 9L cases year-on-year (Nielsen, 52 weeks ending 24/01/26).

The new listing with Co-op Wholesale builds on Bijou’s established performance in the convenience channel, including its long-standing partnership with Little Waitrose and A.F. Blakemore & Son, and reflects continued demand from independent retailers for premium brands with strong rate of sale and repeat purchase dynamics.

Edward Vellacott, managing director at Bijou, comments: “Premiumisation is no longer confined to supermarkets or the on-trade. Convenience retailers are increasingly looking for credible premium brands that deliver consistent sell-through and build long-term value. Provenance and brand positioning are equally as important as price and promotion nowadays.”

The launch into Co-op Wholesale provides independent and symbol retailers access to a premium French rosé brand already proven at scale across the UK market.
