Cake BoxCake Box and Ambala launch limited edition egg-free cakes inspired by classic South Asian sweets
, one of the UK’s leading fresh cream, egg-free cake retailers with more than 250 stores, has joined forces with Ambala, the heritage South Asian sweets brand, to launch a limited-edition range of cakes, slices and cupcakes.

Available in participating Cake Box stores nationwide and online now, the collaboration taps into the UK’s growing appetite for global desserts.

This new range re-imagines much-loved mithai (traditional South Asian sweets enjoyed across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and beyond) in cake form, bringing authentic flavours into accessible formats for both long-standing fans and adventurous foodies.

From the rise of Middle Eastern flavours, such as Dubai cheesecake, to the growing popularity of Japanese matcha and hojicha desserts, consumers are showing increasing interest in trying something different. This range reflects the growing interest in world desserts and international flavours.

Five new hero cakes form the centre of the range:

  • Bedana Cake – a Victoria sponge layered with fresh cream, inspired by fruity dried-fruit sweets.

  • Pink Chom Chom Cake – colourful and delicately sweet, echoing the popular Bengali mithai.

  • Gulab Jamun Cake – caramel sponge with cream layers that recreate the syrupy richness of the classic.

  • Pistachio Cake – nut-flavoured sponge with subtle roasted notes.

  • Dubai Chocolate Cake – an indulgent chocolate sponge with a glossy finish, drawing on a modern Ambala favourite.
