Italian footwear brand Superga and premium Italian lager Peroni Nastro Azzurro have today launched the sneaker of the summer, Capri Nights Cotu Classics. Available now in-store and on www.superga.co.uk RRP £65, the Italian coast inspired trainers were designed by shoe artist Daniel Cordas and are released alongside the roll out of Peroni Nastro Azzurro’s new sunshine beer, Stile Capri.
The limited-edition shoes were individually hand-painted using Capri’s iconic blue colour palette with splashes of beach gold. The design reflects the stunning seaside and renowned umbrellas of the Italian island, alongside the world famous Faraglioni rock formation. Using leather paint, Cordas expressed his designs onto “the People’s Shoe of Italy”, Superga’s 2750 Cotu Classics which have been in production since 1911.
Capri Nights Cotu Classics were influenced by Peroni Nastro Azzurro Stile Capri, a new Mediterranean inspired lager with a delicate balance of bitterness and fresh citrus notes. Brewed with a light touch of Italian lemon zest for a crisp, refreshing taste. Brewed with notes of sun-soaked lemons and olive leaf, it’s lightly aromatic and uniquely uplifting, like the sea breeze on Italy’s most iconic and stylish island.
Daniel Cordas, UK sneaker artist, said: “The island of Capri is full of life, summer vibes and iconic landscapes. To paint its essence onto an iconic Italian shoe like Superga with a premium Italian beer like Peroni is a challenge that I have loved bringing to life. I wanted to bring the Capri beach to your feet through this design, with bright, crisp designs to reflect new Stile Capri flavours.
He continued: “I’ve designed shoes & made some wearable pieces of artwork for icons like Billie Eilish, Floyd Mayweather & Travis Scott, and so this design captures the iconic island of Capri and the lifestyle & imagery it is known for.”
In August 2023, Peroni Nastro Azzurro Stile Presents: Capri Nights, a series of summer parties, will travel to Birmingham, Brighton, and Manchester to bring the tastes and sounds of the Amalfi Coast to consumers nationwide following a sold-out London launch event in June. Inspired by the island of Capri in Italy’s Bay of Naples, the new beer from Peroni Nastro Azzurro offers a subtle and lightly aromatic flavour.
