Cathedral City launches high protein, half fat range

Cathedral CityCathedral City, the Nation’s favourite cheese brand, today announces the launch of its new High Protein, half fat cheddar products, set to hit shelves in September 2024. The range is the Company’s biggest innovation launch this year and will be available in four convenient formats: block, sliced, grated, and minis providing versatile options for shoppers.

With the new High Protein, half fat cheddar range, Cathedral City continues to deliver the delicious taste and superior quality that consumers have come to expect, with naturally high protein content and 50% less fat than standard cheddar, the range offers 30g of protein per 100g.  The range is intended to cater to health-conscious individuals who do not want to compromise on flavour.

The global high protein-based food market is projected to increase by $40.67 billion between 2022 and 2027 and the UK protein market is expected to reach over £500 million by 2029, showing the importance shoppers place, and will continue to place, on putting protein in their baskets.

The range targets millennials, Gen Z’ers and those who are into health and fitness. According to recent research, Gen Z and Millennials now prioritise spending on healthy foods, and healthy eating has emerged as an affordable and accessible source of pleasure.

Key features of the new range:

  • High protein content: With a naturally high protein content, it’s ideal for those seeking to increase their protein intake.  The range offers 30g of protein per 100g.
  • Half fat: Rounded, firm and packed with protein, enjoy the taste of cheddar with half the fat without compromising on the renowned Cathedral City quality taste.
  • Versatile formats: Available in block, sliced, grated and minis formats to suit various culinary needs and on-the-go snacking.

Cathedral City Senior Brand Manager Abi Armson comments: “We are excited to introduce our new High Protein, half fat cheddar range as we aim to become the leader in this area.  We have applied all our expertise into this product to ensure consumers get the same great taste they would expect from a Cathedral City product.

“Our goal is to provide shoppers with high protein, half fat cheese options that do not sacrifice the taste and quality they love, and this range is perfect for customers who want the joy and flavour of delicious cheddar with the additional benefits of naturally high protein and 50% less fat allowing them to achieve their fitness goals.”

The new range complements the current Cathedral City products including the Cathedral City Lighter range and the Lactose Free and Plant Based ranges catering to specific dietary requirements.

The High Protein half fat range will be available in block, sliced, grated and minis providing versatile options for every cheese lover and will be available nationwide from September 2024.
