One of the UK’s largest private label coffee roasters, Lincoln & York has received two bronze medals at the European edition of the Global Coffee Awards.
In competition with a range of speciality and artisan roasters, Lincoln & York was one of the only commercial roasters of its scale, roasting circa 9000 tonnes of coffee a year, to be recognised in the blind judging by an international panel of experts.
Created by Roasting Specialist and Q Grader Tom Altoft and Coffee & Samples Coordinator Kristiana Vitola-Broka, the winning coffees in the Flat White Alternative Milk category were Single Origin Traditional, Brazil Ascarive FT and the roastery’s York Blend, demonstrating the team’s expertise across single origin and blends roasted to world-class standards.
The team’s York Blend was praised as having ‘excellent presence and was able to shine through the milk well’. Whilst the single origin entry was described as ‘a silky, full mouthfeel that coats the palate beautifully, delivering a satisfying and well-balanced experience’. This entry also credits producer Ascarive, underscoring the roastery’s dedicated connection from bean to cup.
Managing director at Lincoln & York, Ian Bryson commented: “It is fantastic to have our coffee praised on the world stage. These results are testament to the team’s passion and expertise, and as one of the largest private label coffee roasters in the UK we’re incredibly proud to have our quality recognised alongside speciality and artisan roasters. Congratulations to all of the winners and to Tom and Kristiana on this wonderful achievement for Lincoln & York.”
Working with the biggest names in high street coffee, independent coffee shops and wider retail and hospitality venues, Lincoln & York has been at the forefront of the UK’s coffee culture for over 30 years. Established in 1994, the business has grown exponentially to become one of the UK’s largest independent coffee roasters whilst maintaining its commitment to quality, consistency and passion.
The Global Coffee Awards are held annually, celebrating roasting excellence worldwide, recognising both roasteries and the producers who grow their coffees. Categories reflect core offerings and emerging trends in specialty coffee and winning is a mark of quality, craftsmanship and innovation.
