Crew Clothing selects Workday to aid financial decision making and support business growth

Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY), a leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, today announced that Crew Clothing will leverage Workday Financial Management to gain real-time visibility across the front and back offices. The solution will  provide key insights and give the retailer the business agility to make better, more strategic decisions in today’s fast-paced retail environment.

Crew Clothing, a UK retailer that specialises in casual wear, shoes and accessories for men and women, has experienced impressive business growth since the launch of its first collection in 1993. With over 100 stores across the UK and a commanding ecommerce presence, the organisation recognised a level of disconnect and a need for stronger visibility across its finance function.

The retailer is in a period of transformation, driven by plans to scale both online and in its brick-and-mortar locations. The current retail market, with evolving external macroeconomic conditions, market disruptions, and labour shortages, heightens the need for organisation and visibility. With its previous legacy system, Crew Clothing lacked a unified platform capable of connecting its tremendous amounts of data. Workday Financial Management provides a solution to the challenge, enabling the organisation to not only connect its data, but also leverage this data to gain insights on profitability, future outcomes and “what-if” scenarios.

“In the retail industry, we are faced with constant change and a need to adapt quickly – which has shown the importance of unifying the financial operations of our front and back offices,” said Richard Surman, head of IT, Crew Clothing. “We have a wealth of data available to us from our in-store and online operations. With Workday, the insights provided by our previously disconnected data will be key, allowing us to anticipate and navigate what’s coming next, driving our strategy and plans for growth.”

Workday Financial Management will help enable Crew Clothing to gain clear visibility and make better informed decisions, increase efficiency across the organisation, and adapt faster to industry trends. Workday Prism Analytics was a key factor in Crew Clothing’s choice of Workday. With this capability, Crew Clothing will benefit from financial analytics which bring in streams of data from competitors, contextualise this data, provide a complete view of each transaction, and report into Workday Financials. Analytics and transactions residing in the same system creates a level of efficiency and insight necessary to develop a solid front office-back office partnership, which has proven imperative for organisations looking to scale their business.

“A unified front and back office gives access to the right data at the right times, supporting organisations to gather the insights needed to drive decision-making and innovation,” said Daniel Pell, vice president and country manager, UKI, Workday. “Our solutions increase efficiency and resilience, providing Crew Clothing the visibility and time to focus their efforts on scalability and business growth.”
