Europe’s largest shoe retailer DEICHMANN has reported the brand’s strongest sales to date for the UK arm of the business for 2023. The German group announced a UK turnover of £139.1m for last year with a 14% increase on sales of £121.7m in 2022.
2023 marked the 110th corporate anniversary of the family-owned company and DEICHMANN remains optimistic about the future growth of the business. Managing director at DEICHMANN UK, Simon Wilson, comments: “2023 saw many challenges for DEICHMANN in the UK but also a lot of successes. We continued our store expansion with nine new stores opening including our first Northern Irish store in Belfast. We also refitted eight of our current stores including Basingstoke which had a £500k investment and grew from 365m2 to 570m2 in size.”
Online sales for the retailer also grew in 2023 by 14% and the brand invested additional funds into marketing to improve brand awareness.
DEICHMANN continues to invest in the growth of the brand in the UK with continued retail expansion planned for 2024, adding new technology into stores such as digital foot measuring devices and continuing to strengthen its marketing programme.
Great-value prices, brand diversity and fashion expertise for the whole family are three DEICHMANN strengths that enable the footwear retailer to perform so well in a challenging market environment. Customers know they can depend on affordable entry-level prices and also find covetable big name brands.
“Our dedicated teams and the excellent customer service provided by staff has really helped to maximise sales,” Wilson comments. “We’re grateful for all the hard work and effort demonstrated by our teams to keep the business serving our customers and we’re excited for the year ahead.”
2024 has already seen a positive start at DEICHMANN UK as one of the brand’s flagship stores at Westfield London re-opened following a £1.3 million investment. The brand also launched new lines including Levis, HEYDUDE and Buffalo along with a collaboration with author, actress and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher.
