MortonDr. Martens, the iconic British footwear brand, today announces the appointment of Katie Morton as global customer director.

Morton joins Dr. Martens on 26th October, with more than two decades of experience leading consumer, omnichannel and business transformation across fashion, luxury and retail. Reporting to Carla Murphy, chief brand officer, she will be responsible for strengthening the company’s consumer-centric approach globally, helping more consumers discover, connect with and deepen their relationship with the Dr. Martens brand.

She will be part of the company’s leadership team, helping to strengthen the consumer-first operating model and reinforce the role of consumer insight and experience in building brand relevance, loyalty and long-term growth.

Morton has spent over 17 years at Burberry, where she was a founding member of the brand’s digital team and helped shape its pioneering approach to modern luxury retail, bringing together consumer insight, technology and commercial strategy. Throughout her career with the business, she held a series of senior global leadership positions, most recently serving as Global Vice President, Online to Offline, where she led Burberry’s omnichannel strategy across five regions.

Most recently, Morton worked as an independent consultant, advising iconic brands including Fortnum & Mason on consumer strategy, transformation and international growth. Across a breadth of roles, she has built a reputation for helping brands better understand the consumers they serve, building the capabilities, teams and ways of working required to create stronger relationships and drive sustainable growth.

Morton’s appointment follows a series of recent senior leadership appointments across the brand, product and consumer organisation, including  Isadora Versiani as global product design director and Nadia Svensson as global merchandising and product director, as Dr. Martens continues to strengthen its capabilities and execute its ‘Levers for Growth’ strategy. Together, these appointments reflect the company’s commitment to building a more consumer-first organisation, bringing deeper expertise across consumer, product and brand leadership to drive long-term growth and relevance.

Carla Murphy, chief brand officer at Dr. Martens, said: “Katie has an outstanding track record helping some of the world’s most iconic brands better understand and serve their consumers. She brings a powerful combination of consumer insight, commercial expertise and deep experience leading transformation at scale, alongside a proven track record of building high-performing teams and capabilities that deliver meaningful business impact.

This appointment is another important step in enhancing the capabilities that support our Levers for Growth strategy. Together with the recent appointments across our product and brand leadership teams, Katie’s arrival strengthens our ability to better understand our consumers, respond to their evolving needs and create memorable brand experiences that deepen our connection with our consumers around the world. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
