FUJI Japanese Whisky (https://fujiwhisky.com/), which brings together the best of American, Canadian and Scotch production methods, has today announced its arrival in the UK.

Fuji Gotemba Distillery is the only distillery in the world that uses a fusion of whisky making methods. Since its establishment 50 years ago, the distillery has been refining its offering by integrating Kirin’s own brewing technology with world leading production styles.

The distillery is surrounded by lush forests, crystal clear waters, and pure mountain air. FUJI Japanese Whiskies are extremely clean tasting, pure and mellow, and have been nurtured over time in this environment, with its unique climate and terrain. Mt. Fuji provides a natural source of water in the form of snowmelt for the FUJI production and is the reason why the distillery was built at this location.

One of the main reasons FUJI Japanese Whiskies are distinctively flavourful and complex lies in their blending process. Blending of various whisky components not only complements and enhances but also synergises and evolves the flavours. The diversity of FUJI Japanese Whiskies gives complexity, richness, and multi-layered character, which sets them apart from other whisky brands.

The brand was born out of a dream to create whiskies that fitted the culture and tastes of people living in Japan and enthusiasts around the world who savour unique, premium styles.

Ikuma Suzuki, managing director of Kirin Europe GmbH, says: “Fuji Gotemba Distillery was established 50 years ago as a joint venture with a global spirits company. It is therefore a great pleasure for us to be able to present FUJI Japanese Whisky to the UK in this milestone year. FUJI’s unique taste is the result of combined world leading production methods and we’re confident that our range will be well received by many whisky enthusiasts in the UK.”

FUJI Japanese Whisky pairs beautifully with seafood and vegetable dishes, particularly sushi, smoked salmon, root vegetables, and fish carpaccio. To fully enjoy FUJI Japanese Whisky, which is composed of various aromas and flavours, the brand recommends enjoying it from a Sauvignon Blanc white wine glass.

FUJI Japanese Whisky is an ideal choice for those looking for an eclectic, luxurious sipping spirit. The range includes three varietals:

FUJI Single Grain Whiskey

Aromas – Poached pear, rustic fruit tart, Cognac and marron glacé

Flavours – Orange marmalade, raspberry, spiciness of rye, and bitter chocolate

Finish – Mellow with a hint of exotic incense wood, moderate to long aftertaste

FUJI Single Malt Whisky

Aromas – Apple, Pineapple, Citrus Peel, Crème Brûlée, Darjeeling tea

Flavours – Mello and fruity on the palate. Rich fruity aromas of ripe white peaches, pears and apricots, reminiscent of fruit tart

Finish – The sweet, complex and mature aroma is pleasant and long-lasting

FUJI Single Blended Whiskey

Aromas – Peach, apricot, orange liqueur, delicately fruity with a hint of honey and oatmeal cookies

Flavours – Delicate yet vivid fruits, Williams pear, apple, apricot and white table grapes

Finish – A delicately sweet, fruity, and rich aftertaste is interwoven with a pleasantly long, silky finish

FUJI Japanese Whisky is distributed by Spirit Cartel who have twice won the IWSC Spirit Distributor of the Year. David Hood, General Manager of Spirit Cartel says: “We are delighted to add FUJI Japanese Whisky to our portfolio. We have a long history working with Kirin already, as we’ve looked after the Four Roses Bourbon brand for many years. We are very excited to launch this unique, premium brand to the UK market.”

FUJI Japanese Whisky is available to purchase at the below retailers:

  • Speciality Drinks
