Families are invited to join GO Outdoors alongside TV presenter and outdoor enthusiast Helen Skelton for a community hike in the Lake District this summer holiday.
Taking place on Monday, 10th August, the family-friendly event will begin at Yew Tree Farm, one of Beatrix Potter’s old properties, before following a scenic route around Tarn Hows and returning to the farm for refreshments.
The morning will kick off with a special story time led by Helen to commemorate Beatrix Potter’s 160th birthday, before families set off on a guided hike through one of the Lake District’s most picturesque locations. Four Ordnance Survey Champions will be on hand throughout the walk to help guide the route and ensure everyone feels supported along the way.
Helen Skelton comments on the event: “Spending time outside with my family is one of my non-negotiables. The outdoors is one of the simplest, yet most rewarding, ways to connect with each other, make memories and have a laugh together!
“The Lake District has long been one of my favourite places to explore, and I have fond memories of reading Beatrix Potter throughout my childhood. I can’t wait to create even more memories by welcoming families to this special community event.”
Joe Hill, outdoor living brand lead at GO Outdoors, adds: “We’re hugely passionate about helping more people get outdoors, and since launching our GO Outdoors Community earlier this year, we’ve already held several successful free events to help bring people together. Hosting a family hike seemed like a natural next step for the brand, to help children stay active and social this summer.
“We’re delighted to be welcoming families to the beautiful Lake District for a day of adventure. Having our ambassador Helen join us for the event will make the day even more special, and we can’t wait to see people of all ages enjoying what the outdoors has to offer.”
Registered guests should arrive at Yew Tree Farm between 9:15am and 9:30am, with the story time beginning at 9:45am. The guided hike will set off at 10:00am, before returning to Yew Tree Farm for complimentary refreshments between 12:00pm and 12:15pm.
Tickets are free and go on sale via Eventbrite, on Monday 20th July at 6pm BST: https://www.eventbrite.ie/o/
